Title: Called Out
Author: Hal Hester
Scripture Reference: Matthew 28.1-29
Description: The word for church in the original language literally means we are the “called out.” In our society to be called out is associated with be publicly shamed, but in the biblical sense, it means that we have been identified as the people of the resurrection and the kingdom of heaven, who have been called upon to love, God and people and pass it on. As people come to church they are generally looking for God to make things all better, to change circumstances rather than their life, they don’t expect that they way to wholeness is through serving amidst brokenness, or sacrificing and dying to self, but the invitation of the gospel is heard as being “called out.”
