Romans 6.1-23

In the protestant church, things like baptism and communion, often become symbols of our spiritual reality but little more. Out of fear that someone might make them into works of salvation, or means of grace we tend to ignore that God does not do anything just for effect. Paul tells us in Romans 6 that baptism is a spiritual reality that not only proclaims our new life, and our confidence in Christ, but also initiates our transformation into new creatures. HIs confidence is that in baptism we are overcoming the old life with the new life.
