Religion loves to use shame to manage people, and catches victims in precarious positions so that they cannot be authentic, nor can they find healing because of the need to control their image, limit their ongoing pain to privacy, and avoid public humiliation. But when we discover that the power of the gospel is not in managed behavior but in authentic transformation, we discover that sin management is really the lie of Satan and religion. That lie keeps us from experiencing the joy and power of God that can transform us and put us into authentic relationship with God and others.
