Matthew: 16:13-28
The confession of Peter features prominently in the theology of the Christian church, even functioning as the primary identity of the Roman Church, as the church built on the leadership of Peter. However, the confession of Peter is, Jesus is It! Jesus being the Messiah, the Son of God is the rock, the foundation of the church, and that is what Peter was commended for. That confession is the rock that we also build on today, Jesus is It, he is Messiah, the son of God and that is what all of us who follow him are building on.
