Across the four gospels we are told the story of Jesus and the good news in four distinct ways. While most of them (especially the synoptics) cover many of the same events, there is content that is unique to each memoir. But one of the most compelling things about all four gospels is that all of them begin with the message of John the Baptist who proclaims the coming of the gospel. So what is so important about what John said that it sets the foundation for all four gospels? What does it tell us about the gospel?
