Romans 8.1-39
24 July 2022
Because of the current political debates in our country, the church has found itself in the awkward place of often denying our role as stewards of the earth, or turning that stewardship into a form of political activism that best resembles works salvation. Somewhere in between these extremes is the biblical call to stewardship as both care of God’s creation and as eschatological hope in the transforming power of the gospel. Typically, these verses are quickly glossed over as mere speed bumps on the way to the “good stuff” but in context these verses are powerful points of convergence between Jewish and Christian understanding of God’s good creation and his love for the world.
